Enola Holmes – No Mystery Here

Rating (2.5 out of 5)

Summary: The premise is interesting, and the movie starts well. A mystery to solve, and Enola, the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, striking out on her own to solve a mystery. Once she lands in London, the movie starts to meander. My main problem was that we had two mysteries going simultaneously, plus her relationship with her brothers and the love story. The varied focus removed some pace from the film and made the film feel longer than it was.

Sherlock coaching his sister in the investigation while not directly helping her was a cute element. He pieces together where she is from various clues and is proud of her accomplishments. Their relationship was the highlight of the show for me. I do think Henry Cavill suits that type of role well.

Another highlight of the film was Enola’s training sessions overlaying with her mom with her current situation. If I had concentrated on just one mystery and overlayed this more, I think this had the potential to be a four out of five.

Plot: Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown), Sherlock Holme’s little sister, adventures from her home to London to find her mom, but runs across another case to solve along the way.
