Summary: I wanted to like this movie. Honestly, I tried. There are good parts to the movie, like when they decimate a village, but unfortunately, it is the rebellion. That is funny. Then they added the creative ways for Bloodsport (Idris Elba) and Peacemaker (John Cena) to kill people as a contest. There were good moments. Unfortunately, as a whole, it is rather dull.
“The Suicide Squad” is oddly paced. Fast-paced at one moment, then halting the next. 2 1/4 hours is too long, and the film could have been shortened. The whole Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior) back story and forcing a connection with Bloodsport is an example of the sudden stop. Then the bar scene wasn’t the lively team bonding event that was intended.
Harley Quinn(Margot Robbie) is probably the best character, adding levity to the movie. Her being courted by the new leader of Corto Maltese was funny. Then when she escaped from being tortured, the whole sequence was fun. A total James Gunn creation. It was the tale of two movies, The Suicide Squad and Harley Quinn.
At the end of the day, “The Suicide Squad” doesn’t offer anything new in the superhero genre. So far away is the overall completeness of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and not the originality of a subpar “Deadpool 2”. For DC, this is a good movie, but still not a good film.
Plot: There is a coupe on a small island that hides a dangerous alien. The Suicide Squad has to sneak onto the island and destroy the building.
